Diary
This page is for me to note down any information about this project to help me reflect on my decision making when writing my evaluation (some information will likely not be used so I will keep this page open even when the project is finished).
- My first idea is to have a mockumentary about the Prince Philip car crash that happened early 2019.
- I could make this mockumentary entertaining to my audience through the use of motion-capture images to make a mock of the car crash.
- As well as this, with the use of someone selling glass from the crash on eBay, I can jokingly say that I have a piece of glass taken from the scene (when really it is just a random piece of glass).
- Given this, although it is funny, I feel that the lack of professionalism and the informal approach to this documentary will not help me in my understanding of documentary techniques.
- My second idea is to be based around a historical murder that is popular in the village that I live in and the villages around it.
- Unlike my first idea, I would actually be able to visit the site in which the murder took place and get actual footage instead of archival/ stock footage.
- As well as this, I have a lot more research (primary and secondary) that supports this idea and I can also interview someone that was alive and (somewhat) present when the murder was most popular back in the 1970s.
- This idea is the most likely one that I am going to do as it is one that I have heard a lot about through family and the one that interests me the most.
- 08/02/2019 - filmed all of the footage for my documentary. Yet to record all of the voice over and to collect about 20 seconds of stock footage to support my facts/ information.
- 19/02/2019 - after looking at my two main ideas, I have decided that I no longer want to continue filming footage for the headless women of cockley cley and instead would like to change my documentary to my idea on paint brushes. This is because I feel that I no longer have any interest in the Headless Women and the footage that I have captured is difficult to edit around the information and evidence that I have in possession. I feel that I will be able to complete my work quicker by using my paint brush idea as I can do it within the comfort of my own home, in time that I have, with the recourse that I have too. Whereas with the Headless Women documentary I will not only work around my own schedule but the schedule of 6 other people to be able to visit the places that I need to go to capture footage. As well as this, artistic and creative mediums are more interesting to me than crime and so I would like to stick to the topic that I know best.
- I have written the audio/visual script and am going to finish as much as required from me today (19/02) so that I am ready to film with my own camera/ phone as I am unable to retrieve a camera from spingboard this week.
- In the future projects, I will start with making a schedule instead of leaving it to half way through the project.
Great work Holly, taking on the feedback from the previous project and keeping a diary to reflect on you project ongoing. To improve on this, don't just state what you did, critically reflect on what you are doing - for example, what's going well, what do you need to improve? why has your idea changed?
